Hello from you 7th Grade ELA teacher

Hello Students and Parents,

My name is Jokora Davis and I will be your student’s 7th Grade ELA teacher. This year we will focus 4 units that will be revolve around 4 different novels which will include The Giver, A Christmas Carol, Behind the Scenes and “Memoir.” I am looking forward to working with you and seeing all the new things we can learn and teach each other. This page will be used to update you on assignments, reading material, a variety of ELA information and things that may be going on around Richwood Middle. 4th and 5th Hour VIP B Students

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

Today we went over how to stay safe during Covid-19 and we got halfway through the "All about Me" Slideshow. We collaborated on what you wanted to be when you grew up, mental health status during this crazy time and you wrote a poem with the concept of "Wash Up, Mask Up, Back Up." You guys did amazing! On Thursday, we will complete our second slideshow along with our virtual vision boards in class. See you guys on Thursday!


Tuesday-09.08.2020

1st and 2nd Hour Hybrid B Students/ 7th and 8th Hour Hybrid B Students

Today we went over how to stay safe at Richwood Middle School with videos and discussions. We also did an activity that required you to create a song/rap with the phrase "Wash Up, Mask Up, Back Up". You guys did an amazing job. I also shared some information with you about myself with an "All About Me" slideshow! You learned where I'm originally from and some things I like to do. We also discussed rules, consequences and procedures for the classroom.

Your take-home activity for this week is for you to create a "Vision Board" This vision board will include (Success Criteria) your goals for the end of this year , 6 years (seniors in high school) (5 points) and 15 years (adulthood) . You should also include pictures or drawings on vision board that reflect yourself, your family and things you love to do! Take your time and create a beautiful and creative masterpiece. Make sure to adhere to the success criteria that I have included

Success Criteria:

1 year goals (5 points)

6 year goals (5 points)

15 year goals (5 points)

Drawings or Pictures that reflect yourself, your family or what you like to do. (10 points) Make sure to use your sentence stems: "1/6/15 year(s) from now I expect to........" (5 points)

This activity is worth your first grade of 30 points and is due on Wednesday -09.09.2020. Remember that the board I gave you to use is reversible. If you mess up one side, flip that thing over and use the other side. You guys have a great weekend and I'll see you Wednesday. *Reminders -Leap 360 Diagnostic Testing on Wednesday-09.09.2020 -I will be adding the syllabus to this page so be looking or it as well -Don't forget to have your parents to sign those forms that were given to you and bring those back on Wednesday-09.09.2020
